Viktor Vekselberg

Chairman, Supervisory Board of Renova Group

Viktor Vekselberg graduated from the Moscow Institute of Railway Engineering. After completing his studies, he worked at an engineering bureau and completed postgraduate studies at the Computing Centre of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Following many years of work at state scientific research institutes, in 1990 Mr. Vekselberg began creating his own business, becoming founder and manager of a number of commercial enterprises.

In 1990, Viktor Vekselberg and Leonard Blavatnik established the management company Renova. Mr. Vekselberg took the position of general director. Throughout the 1990s, Renova participated in privatizing Russia's metallurgy and oil industries. After several years, Leonard Bavatnik withdrew from the group of co-owners of Renova, exchanging his share in the company for different assets.

In 1996, Viktor Vekselberg established holding company SUAL. More than 20 businesses operating in 11 regions of Russia were consolidated in the holding company. With the 2007 merger of RUSAL, SUAL, and Glencore, the world's largest producer of aluminum and aluminum oxide - United Company RUSAL - was formed. Mr. Vekselberg is one of the co-owners of the company.

In 2002 and 2003, Mr. Vekselberg served as chairman of the Management Board of TNK. After TNK-BP was founded in 2003, he held a number of executive positions within the company.

Currently Mr. Vekselberg is a member of the Board of Directors and CEO of TNK-BP. Viktor Vekselberg is a member of the boards of Trustees of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, the State University Higher School of Economics, and the New Economic School.
